Religious Heads Exploding In Unison

The outpouring of pure hatred from the Religious Right talking heads — you can almost hear them screaming “God damn America!” It’s as if they’re wishing for catastrophes to happen just so their insane rantings will be proven.  The purely demented, drama-laden wailings and obsession with sex is both hilarious and sad.

Read the rants on Right Wing Watch – “Reaction to DADT Vote: “The Few, the Proud, the Sexually Twisted” read the reactions from Bryan Fischer of the American “Family” Association and Tony Perkins of the “Family Research” Council (tied to white supremacists), Matt Staver of “Freedom” Federation, Peter LaBarbera of Americans for “Truth”, Mass Resistance, and former chaplain Gordon Klingenschmitt (who was court-martialed in 2006 for disobeying orders).

We are now stuck with sexual deviants serving openly in the U.S. military because of turncoat Republican senators … Had the cloture vote failed, we would still have sane moral and sexual standards governing military personnel policy. But sadly those days are gone, perhaps forever.

Oh, the irony of these lunatics calling other people sexual deviants with their diapers and hookers and  committing adultery while their wives lay cancer-stricken.  And it’s well known how pure and chaste heterosexuals are in the military, especially when 1-in-3 women report being sexually assaulted and raped by male heterosexual soldiers.

The rant from Mass Resistance comes complete with a centerfold photo of Scott Brown, who apparently “doesn’t have a problem showering no matter who is ogling him.”

UPDATE: Right Wing Watch reports that most of the right-wingosphere, so far, is dead silent on the repeal:

When Judge Vaughan Walker struck down Proposition 8, Religious Right leaders were falling over one another to release statements decrying it … but the repeal of DADT has largely yielded collecting silence.

So far, we have not heard a peep about the vote from the American Center for Law and Justice, Concerned Women for America, The Eagle Forum, Focus on the Family, the Traditional Values Coalition, Vision America, The Christian Anti-Defamation Commission, The Christian Coalition, Renewing America Leadership or anything from conservative leaders like Mike Huckabee, Sarah Palin, James Dobson, Newt Gingrich, or Richard Land.

Waiting to gauge the public response to calculate what they’re going to spew; the hate-group leaders like Perkins, Fischer, and LaBarbera quoted in the first RWW link just don’t care any more — they cannot sound any crazier than they already do.

Bryan Fischer: Too Many Bastard Children Being Born

Those bastards!

Bryan Fischer of the American Family Association says too many bastard children are being born and married people should be obligated to produce at lease three children.  Great.  Yeh, we need more children’s lives fucked up by the abuse and indoctrination of religion.

We want married couples to have more children, not fewer. Our problem is not that married couples are having too many kids, our problem is that they aren’t having enough.

Our fertility rate right now is barely at replacement level, and that’s with 40% of our children born out-of-wedlock — bastards, to use the quaint and correct term (dictionary: “bastard: a person born of parents not married to each other”). That’s not name-calling, it’s telling the truth.

The last thing we need is any public policy that encourages married couples to have fewer children. In fact, the American standard ought to be a minimum of three children per married couple.

God’s original instruction to our first parents was to “be fruitful, multiply and fill the earth.” This command, which theologians call the “Cultural Mandate,” has never been rescinded. It’s still in effect today, just as much in effect as it was when first uttered 6,000 years ago.

In order to “multiply” – that is, to grow in number – each couple has to have at least three children.

That 40% figure overlaps heavily into the 80% self-proclaimed christian population.  Please, for the sake of our country’s Good Christian Heritage™, we must stop with all this “irresponsible procreation”.  Bristol, Sarah?

Bryan Fischer: U.S. Under A Bear Curse

Signs, signs, everywhere are signs.  The batshit-insane Bryan Fischer says that because bears are attacking livestock and people, it is a sign that we are under a Biblical bear curse.  Jeezus, we barely survived the previous killer whale curse.

One human being is worth more than an infinite number of grizzly bears. Another way to put it is that there is no number of live grizzlies worth one dead human being.  [unless it’s a queer – did I put that in there?] If it’s a choice between grizzlies and humans, the grizzlies have to go. And it’s time.

God makes it clear in Scripture that deaths of people and livestock at the hands of savage beasts is a sign that the land is under a curse. The tragic thing here is that we are bringing this curse upon ourselves.

Elisha - LOL, get 'em, bears!

Of course, this makes me think of 2 Kings 2:23-24

And he [Elisha] went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up by the way, there came forth little children out of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; go up, thou bald head. And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two she bears out of the wood, and tare forty and two children of them.

Scripture makes it crystal clear that bald men are not to be mocked.  As a bald-headed man, I totally approve this smiting.

The Dark Ages vs. Bryan Fischer, Tony Perkins et al.

A single quote from the Dark Ages that nicely sums up today’s christianist leaders and “culture warriors:

What harm would it do, if a man told a good strong lie for the sake of the good and for the Christian church … a lie out of necessity, a useful lie, a helpful lie, such lies would not be against God, he would accept them. – Martin Luther [1483-1546], Table Talk, published 1569

And a few more that describe them quite well.  Religion today, as always, is used to justify any deed they do.

God does not work salvation for fictitious sinners. Be a sinner and sin vigorously…. Do not for a moment imagine that this life is the abiding place of justice; sin must be committed.

Sin cannot tear you away from him [Christ], even though you commit adultery a hundred times a day and commit as many murders.

Superstition, idolatry, and hypocrisy have ample wages, but truth goes a-begging. [Martin Luther, Table Talk]

Reason is the greatest enemy that faith has: it never comes to the aid of spiritual things, but–more frequently than not –struggles against the divine Word, treating with contempt all that emanates from God. [Martin Luther, Table Talk]

Bryan Fischer At The VVS2010

Bryan Fischer is unarguably one of the most batshit insane, delusional, lying, sociopathic national religious figures around — he may even be the King of Christian mental illness.  He has advocated for the killings of heterosexuals having sex outside of marriage, imprisoning gays, and on and on.

Here’s a short clip from the Value Voters Summit 2010 where Bryan says that Christians have messed up the church really badly, even more messed up than politics, and that because the church is in such a mess, that Christians must get involved in politics to clean up the mess in politics, which is already less messed-up than the church. Yes, that makes perfect sense, Bryan.

FRC Spent $25K To Lobby Congress In Support Of Uganda’s Death Penalty For Gays

What we already know, here’s more proof that American evangelical leaders want queers DEAD.  Spread this far and wide:

From Joe.My.God.:

“CHRISTIAN LOVE: Family Research Council Lobbied Congress Against Resolution Denouncing Uganda’s Kill Gays Bill”

It’s time for the Southern Poverty Law Center to reclassify the Family Research Council as an official hate group, not merely anti-gay as they are now listed. According to the FRC’s official lobbying report for the first quarter of 2010, they paid two of their henchmen $25,000 to lobby Congress against approving a resolution denouncing Uganda’s plan to execute homosexuals.  The resolution passed in the Senate on April 13th, but remains languishing in the House almost four months after being referred to the Foreign Affairs Committee. Did the FRC’s lobbying kill it? As we learned last week with Malawi, international pressure CAN sway even the most virulently anti-gay government.

Below are three screencaps of the 20-page Family Research Council lobbying report supplied to me by Duncan Osbourne at Gay City News. Among the other items they lobbied against are the overturn of DADT and DOMA, which is to be expected. But it’s almost astounding, almost, that they would lobby the members of Congress against denouncing the death penalty for LGBT people. THIS needs to fucking THROWN in Tony Perkins’ and Peter Sprigg’s smirking faces the next time they appear on cable television to speak in soothing voices about the FRC’s godly gentle love for homosexuals. The proof is right below on official United States government stationery. The Family Research Council wants you DEAD. Glory! Praise His Name! Also: Die, faggots, die!

See the screencaps at JMG.

Look, these loving christians have made it no secret what they want to happen here in this country.  They want gay people exported, imprisoned, and/or executed … Peter Sprigg, Tony Perkins, Bryan Fischer, Scott Lively, Joel McDurmon, Andrea Lafferty, her father Louis Sheldon, Peter LaBarbera, Matt Barber, Matt Staver, the Wildmons … Jeezus, the list goes on and on and on and on … and on.

HOW can people buy into this hatred?  Sooooo afraid of thinking for themselves, soooo afraid that they might realize there is something really fishy about the whole relgiony, churchy thing.  Soooo afraid to admit that they’re entire lives are built on belief in fairy tales.

UPDATE: The Wa-Po picked up Joe.My.God.’s post, and the FRC has responded.  What utter bullshit.
