Russell Glasser: Be A Dick!

A commenter from a couple of days ago, presumably a christian, commenting on a post about Lou Engle from 3/2010 started out with “your [sic] a dick head.” When it comes to religious ignorance, stupidity and dickishness, yep.

Funny, cos I ran across this video just two or three days before, called “Be a dick!” with Russell Glasser and Casey Doran on “Ask an Atheist”.  When christians (the fundies, extremists, you know the kind) say stupid things and make ridiculous claims, like hearing voices, denying scientific facts, when they outright make shit up and spread lies, when they continue preaching their Levitical death pronouncements and the like, the only thing I have left is ridicule, sarcasm, derision, disrespect and dickishness.  I have zero respect for liars, especially those who make a living lying in the name of Jesus.

Surprise! Another Hate-Filled Preacher

"It's time to stop burning flags and start burning fags!"

This sermon is from 15 years ago.  Pastor Jeff Owens issued an “apology” which you can read at Joe.My.God. Joe notes the apology is sort of hidden on their contact page.

The damage this sermon caused over the years is unmeasurable; it can’t be known, only speculated.  I’d love to be able to dig up police reports from that town in the days after that sermon.  Besides any attacks that could have been provoked by the “godly” words of a sociopathic Man of God™, that attitude gets passed down to children with their parents at that sermon.  What if a parent in that congregation had a kid who was gay, and they believed they had a christian duty to put their kid through a lifetime of hell?

Or, a kid sitting in that sermon who decides it’s then OK to physically harm and even kill other human beings they deem inferior, as long as they invoke the god.  Or the kid who took it to heart and ended up abusing drugs or committing suicide, because this vile man made them believe that they were human garbage.  Words, especially from someone in a leadership position, have tremendous weight.  And these people need to be exposed, it needs to be called out for the dangerous rhetoric that it is.

Jon Stewart, hilarious and spot-on as always, debunks FauxNews last night on their comparing the logo of the Nuclear Summit with the flags of Muslim nations, insinuating Obama’s deference to Muslim nations.  Because he is, you know, a big-ole Muslim, Kenyan terrorist in disguise.

Stewart, unlike the dumbfucks at Fox, actually  looked into the inspiration for the logo.  Yes, it’s that very Muslim-flag-looking hydrogen atom.  Oh, noes!!1  What can this mean!1!

Gainesville, FL: Another Church Preaching Hate And Politics

The Dove World Outreach Center is really, really pissed that their YouTube video was pulled.  How DARE YouTube remove their video, and silence their free speach (sic) right to make death pronouncements on gay people.  This guy says in one sentence that gays should be put to death, and later, in another sentence, says that christianity is all about love, and doesn’t want to put gays to death like that nasty muslim religion.

They have another video defending the use of the word “nigger”.  They really, really love to use that word.  Their involvement in a campaign attacking a Gainesville mayoral candidate is being brought before the IRS in a complaint by Americans United, questioning their tax-exempt status while engaging in politics.

Lou And Jesse Engle’s Struggle With Gay Demons

This demon crap really annoys me … I just never could buy that crap when I was in the fundamentalist church (for ten months or so).  Basically, non-believers are all walking around like puppets with a demon’s hand up their ass, directing all their thoughts and actions.  Any straying from the Church, or not praying enough or hard enough, or not reading the Bible enough, talking to non-believers too much, listening to secular music or reading secular material, or masturbating, all can open you up for “demonic influence”.

This kid Jesse, 21 in the photo at left, has been indoctrinated,mind-fucked, into this crap since birth, I guess.  Like following through with the father-son family business, he rambles on with the same fucking tape reruns of all the crap I heard back when I was in the fundamentalist church.  He’s well-versed in the talk, the rhythm, the cadence; even at age 12 he preaches like a pro.  He really is sincere in his beliefs, I guess, it’s all he knows, perfectly controlled and molded by preacher dad.

So, Jesse Engle tells his dad that he’s had dreams of going to San Francisco (I bet he has!) to battle the dark powers of homosexual demons that control the city, “where the homosexuals boast the dominion of darkness”.  Sounds totally like a comic book adventure!  And when this man, dad Lou Engle, speaks, his voice sounds just like the damn voice-over for a cartoon Satan character.

In this video (photo on left, search YouTube for “Jesse Engle, son of Lou Engle“) he urges young people to give their teen years to Jesus, tells how he was burning for the Lord at age 12 (he has the footage) when he had prophetic dreams. Tthe Lord was telling him that the minimum age for joining “God’s gang” used to be 21, “but the numbers are being switched around” and he could join at age 12.  He’s telling kids to fast and pray and be part of the Army of God.  To me, the dude really looks and sounds, well, gay.  I’m not just saying that in a flip way, he really sounds, and looks, like these young gay guys.  And so, he’s in San Francisco with a House of Prayer in the Castro District.  Riiiight.  He tells his dad that as long as he is in SF, that God won’t rain down judgment the city.  The crowd boos.  Christians drool to think about sinners, especially homos, getting smitten by God in some horrifying way.  They drool thinking of the Rapture, believing, pretty much, that they will have a “ringside seat” to the carnage of sinners on Earth below.
